  • Tata Steel Expands Kalinganagar Plant in Odisha

Tata Steel has opened the second phase of its steel plant in Kalinganagar, Odisha. This expansion increases the plant’s steel-making capacity from 3 million tonnes to 8 million tonnes per year. The company spent Rs 27,000 crore (Rs 270 billion) on this project, making Odisha Tata Steel’s biggest investment area.

The Chief Minister of Odisha officially opened the new facilities. The plant now has India’s largest blast furnace, which is very efficient and helps save fuel. It also includes a Pellet Plant, Coke Plant, and Cold Rolling Mill, all using modern and eco-friendly technology.

This upgraded plant will supply steel to important industries like cars, defence, construction, and energy. It supports India’s “Atmanirbhar Bharat” mission, which means making India more self-reliant.

The project shows strong cooperation between the Odisha government, local people, and Tata Steel. With this step, Tata Steel shows its promise to grow in a smart, digital, and sustainable way, helping India’s industrial growth.
