Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed that the state aims to produce steel from 41 million tonnes to 130 million tonnes by 2030. He discussed this at the Steel India 2025 conference in Mumbai, hosted by the Ministry of Steel and FICCI. For attracting new investments, the state will auction 22 mines.
The Chief Minister added Odisha also wishes to become one of the top five industrial hubs in India by promoting companies that produce other products using steel. He added Odisha is emerging as a significant economic state and wishes to produce nearly 50% of all the steel produced in India by 2030.
Earlier this month in January, during the “Utkarsh Odisha” meeting, the state was offered investment proposals of Rs 17 trillion, and a significant portion of this was for the steel sector. The Chief Minister also addressed Odisha’s new industrial policy, stating it offers better and easier money incentives compared to other states. This strategy is intended to develop Odisha’s industries and position the state as a leader in India’s steel industry.
