  • JSW Infra Buys Pipeline Business from JSW Utkal for Rs 16.17 Billion

JSW Infrastructure has just sealed a deal worth around Rs 16.17 billion with JSW Utkal Steel to take over its slurry pipeline business. That deal was signed on March 25, 2025—and there are still a few final details to iron out. By buying this business, JSW Infrastructure has also locked in a long-term agreement with JSW Steel to transport iron ore slurry from the Nuagaon mines to Jagatsinghpur. That partnership will not only help move the slurry but also improve the logistics and supply chain between the two companies.

At the heart of the deal is a “take-or-pay” arrangement. That means JSW Infrastructure gets paid either way: if JSW Steel takes the slurry, or if they don’t and pay a penalty instead. That steady revenue stream will be a big help to JSW Infrastructure.

As the second-largest private port operator in India, handling 170 million tonnes of cargo each year, JSW Infrastructure is expanding its infrastructure to support the JSW Group’s steel and related businesses. That acquisition is part of the group’s broader plan to improve its logistics and steel operations. Led by Sajjan Jindal, the JSW Group is one of India’s top steel producers. JSW Utkal Steel, which sold the pipeline business, is a key part of that operation.
