JSW Steel made 7.26 million tonnes of crude steel in the first quarter of FY 2025–26. This is 14% more than what they produced in the same quarter last year. However, it is 5% less than the previous quarter because some blast furnaces were shut down for planned maintenance. These furnaces are now back in action and running at full strength.
During this quarter, JSW’s steel plants in India were working at 87% of their total capacity.
JSW Steel is part of the $23 billion JSW Group and is one of India’s top steel companies. It has a total steel-making capacity of 35.7 million tonnes per year (MTPA), including 1.5 MTPA in the USA. In India, its capacity is 34.2 MTPA, with 1.7 MTPA more about to start soon.
The company’s main plant is in Vijayanagar, Karnataka. It is the biggest single-location steel plant in India, with a capacity of 17.5 MTPA (including new capacity being added). JSW also works with JFE Steel from Japan to make advanced, high-quality steel used in buildings, cars, electrical equipment, and infrastructure.
