JK Tyre & Industries began manufacturing a new car tyre called ‘UX Royale Green’ at its Chennai plant. The tyres are produced with eco-friendly and recycled materials that have been certified sustainable by ISCC Plus, a global body that verifies whether materials are sourced responsibly.
This is a significant milestone for the company and a first for the Indian tyre sector. It reflects the company’s strong emphasis on green technology and pollution reduction through R&D and innovation.
The ‘UX Royale Green’ tyre is the product of over 10 years of research by JK Tyre’s Global Tech Centre. The tyre contains 80% recycled, sustainable, and renewable materials and has undergone rigorous testing to ensure its performance.
Special materials employed in the tyre are:
- Bio-based rubber
- Renewable oils
- Recycled rubber powder
- Recovered black carbon (a critical material in tyres)
- Recycled polyester
- Reused steel wire
All these are sourced in an eco-friendly manner and minimize waste.
Chairman and MD of JK Tyre, Dr. Raghupati Singhania, described this as a significant step towards producing greener products. He further noted that the company is proud to be at the forefront of producing safe, high-quality tyres that not only safeguard people but also the planet.
JK Tyre was also the first tyre manufacturer in the world to have ISO 9001 certification for all its operations way back in 1995, reflecting its long-standing devotion to high-quality manufacturing and customer satisfaction.
