  • Tata Motors Opens New Vehicle Scrapping Centre in Kolkata

Tata Motors, a leading vehicle company in India, has opened a new Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) in Kolkata. This is the company’s eighth scrapping centre in the country. The new centre is called Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect.

This modern facility can safely take apart and recycle up to 21,000 old vehicles every year. It can handle all types of vehicles, including cars, trucks, bikes, and auto-rickshaws, from any brand. The centre will be run by Tata Motors’ partner, Selladale Synergies India.

Many important people attended or joined the opening event, including:

  • Snehasis Chakraborty, Transport Minister of West Bengal
  • Firhad Hakim, Mayor of Kolkata and Minister of Urban Development (joined online)
  • Dr. Saumitra Mohan, Transport Department Secretary
  • Rajesh Kaul, Vice President of Tata Motors
  • Other government and Tata Motors officials

This is the third Re.Wi.Re centre in eastern India, making it easier for customers in this region to scrap their old vehicles.

How It Helps West Bengal
Minister Snehasis Chakraborty said that this centre is a great step toward a cleaner and safer future. It will encourage people to use modern, energy-efficient vehicles and create new jobs.

Firhad Hakim added that the centre will reduce pollution and improve people’s health, while also giving employment opportunities to locals.

Rajesh Kaul of Tata Motors said the company is focused on sustainable transport and building a circular economy. With this new centre, Tata Motors now has the ability to dismantle more than 1.3 lakh (130,000) vehicles every year across India.

Modern and Safe Process
All Re.Wi.Re centres use digital systems, meaning work is done without paper. The facility has special areas to safely remove and recycle parts like:

  • Tyres
  • Batteries
  • Fuel
  • Oils and liquids
  • Gases

Each vehicle is carefully checked and taken apart in a way that follows the Indian government’s vehicle scrappage policy, making sure everything is safely and responsibly disposed of.
